During an August 17, 2026, meeting, the City Council unanimously adopted recommendations from the Utilities Committee to advance three key projects spanning stormwater management, smart metering, and environmental mitigation. The largest approval was a $1,396,944 professional services agreement with KPFF Consulting Engineers, Inc. The firm will provide engineering services for the Panther Creek Culvert Replacement project at Talbot Road. The council also approved a $206,198 agreement with Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. to support the continued operation of Renton's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. The procurement includes the purchase and installation of three new Sensus Tower Gate Base (TGB) stations and one Sensus Vehicle Gate Base (VGB) station. Rounding out the utility approvals, the city authorized a $272,600 contract amendment with GeoEngineers, Inc. This amendment covers Year 10 post-construction mitigation monitoring and reporting services associated with the Cedar River maintenance dredge and gravel removal project. All three measures passed without opposition following their presentation by the Utilities Committee.
