Provo City will contribute $16,520 towards a lateral connection and shared project costs, out of a total overall project cost of $900,000.

Orem City is prohibited from discharging water into the system until it completes an outfall into the future Lakeview Parkway.

Construction on the 48-inch storm drain has already commenced to meet seasonal asphalt deadlines.

The Provo Municipal Council unanimously approved an interlocal agreement with neighboring Orem City to facilitate the construction of the 2000 South storm drain project. The infrastructure upgrade, located between Geneva Road and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) tracks, involves the installation of a 48-inch storm drain main down the middle of a boundary roadway owned by Provo City. Public Works Engineer Danielle Dixon presented the agreement to the council, noting that while Orem City is responsible for the cost of the primary main, Provo will fund a lateral connection. Provo's financial commitment totals $16,520.49, which covers materials and labor for the lateral to connect to an existing Provo sump, as well as a share of mobilization and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) costs. The overall project cost is estimated at $900,000. A critical stipulation in the agreement restricts Orem City from utilizing the new infrastructure immediately. Orem City is not allowed to discharge any water into the system until it establishes an outfall into Lakeview Parkway, which requires Orem to build its designated portion of the roadway first. The project aligns with Orem's stormwater master plan and will support the future Whitestone Estates development on the Orem side of the boundary. Dixon confirmed that construction is already underway, with crews actively installing the 48-inch pipes to complete the work ahead of seasonal asphalt deadlines. The council approved the resolution by a 4-0 vote.
