The Fort Worth City Council approved a series of significant capital projects during its February 10, 2026 meeting, awarding approximately $31.8 million in construction contracts for water and sanitary sewer infrastructure replacements. The largest share of the work went to Gra-Tex Utilities, Inc., an Arlington-based company specializing in water main and sewer construction. Gra-Tex, which has previously executed utility improvements for the city, secured two separate contracts in this round. The council approved a $14,595,928 contract for the 'Water and Sanitary Sewer Replacement Contract 2021 WSM-F Project' and an $8,949,903 contract for the '2019 WSM-L Project Part-1.' Both items included appropriation ordinances to effect the Water Department’s contribution to the Fiscal Years 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program. Additionally, the council awarded an $8,227,654 contract to Woody Contractors, Inc. for the 'Water and Sanitary Sewer Replacement Contract 2020 WSM-H Project.' Beyond construction procurement, the council advanced engineering and land acquisition efforts for future capacity. Council members approved Amendment No. 1 to an engineering agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in the amount of $1,948,665 for the Fort Worth Central City Water and Sanitary Sewer Relocations Project. In a separate action item regarding the 'Southside II Water Main Alignment Study - City Transmission Main Project,' Councilmember Chris Nettles moved to authorize the use of eminent domain to acquire approximately 0.5 acres in permanent easement and 1.3 acres for a temporary construction easement from a property on South Freeway. The motion carried, facilitating the expansion of the city's transmission main network.
