The Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved the contract with Waste Management of Tennessee on August 25.

The agreement sets a disposal rate of $65 per ton for both Waste-Activated and Class A biosolids.

Monthly costs are capped at $208,000, covering the disposal of biosolid byproduct at the Cedar Ridge Landfill.

The City of Franklin, Tennessee, has finalized a new sanitary landfill services contract to manage biosolid sludge generated by its Water Reclamation Facility. Approved unanimously by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen as part of the August 25 consent agenda, the agreement with Waste Management of Tennessee, Inc. secures a disposal rate of $65 per ton for both Waste-Activated and Class A biosolids. The city's Water Management Department expects to dispose of up to 1,600 tons of sludge per month. Waste Management was the sole respondent to the city's invitation to bid for the disposal services. Under the terms of the contract, the biosolid byproduct will be transported to the Cedar Ridge Landfill, which is owned and operated by Waste Management. The agreement establishes a maximum monthly cost not to exceed $208,000. The contract covers an initial three-year term, with the city holding the option to extend the agreement for an additional two-year period based on successful performance.
