The council authorized a $216,000 contract increase with Mentec Resources. A staff member reading the purchases into the record explained that the funds are required to procure additional lime kiln dust needed through September of this year. The amendment brings the utility's total annual spend with Mentec Resources to $716,000. In an administrative move, the council also approved a vendor name change for its sewer system billing services. The utility's billing company, formerly known as ENCO, has transitioned to AnswerNet. The approval allows the city to process outstanding invoices and maintain continuity in its sewer billing operations. Additionally, the council passed an ordinance on final reading to close and abandon a 103-linear-foot section of an 8-inch PVC sanitary sewer main and its associated easement in the 6400 block of Middle Valley Road. The abandonment is subject to ensuring the continuity of flow for any existing service lines that currently serve other properties in the area.
