Drainage infrastructure installation will require a five-week road closure starting August 17 for the Glenwood Avenue roundabout project.

During the July 30, 2026, meeting of the Mahoning County Board of Commissioners, the board unanimously approved a series of contracts for the Sanitary Engineering Department targeting wastewater treatment upgrades, emergency sewer repairs, and bond-related professional services. The commissioners authorized a $7,000 agreement with Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP for professional services tied to the county's $21,265,000 Sewer System Improvement Revenue Bonds, Series 2021. At the Campbell Wastewater Treatment Plant, the county is investing in emission mitigation, approving an estimated $22,660 contract with Precision Compaction Services, LLC to install two new odor control systems. The board also signed off on emergency responses for the collection system. J.S. Bova Excavating, LLC was awarded an estimated $7,000 for emergency sewer repairs on Indianola Road, while Advanced Fiberglass Services, Inc. received an estimated $4,050 for additional emergency services. In a separate infrastructure update, the county engineer's office announced the upcoming installation of drainage infrastructure for a new roundabout constructed as part of the Glenwood Avenue Road Diet Project. The drainage work will require a five-week closure of the intersection at Glenwood Avenue and Wildwood Drive beginning August 17. Additionally, county emergency management officials noted that severe storms on July 5 resulted in utility power failures, forcing the sanitary system to rely on backup generators to maintain continuous operations. Officials noted ongoing long-term flood mitigation work is occurring alongside the ABC Water District following the storm events.
