The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) Board of Trustees approved a $312,775 construction contract with F.W. Carson Co. during its July 22 meeting to advance Phase 2 of its fire hydrant replacement project. The item was approved unanimously as part of the board's consent calendar. The project, tracked under the district's water utility capital improvement program, targets the highest-risk hydrants in the district's inventory. According to district documents, IVGID maintains over 700 fire hydrants, many of which are over 50 years old. At least 30 hydrants have been identified as out of manufacturer date with no reliable supplier for replacement parts, necessitating full replacements including new 6-inch valves and laterals. The board also authorized a 10 percent contract contingency of up to $31,000 to cover potential unforeseen construction conditions, such as existing utility conflicts or excessive road reinstatement costs. The total estimated project cost, including district staff management, is $360,775, supported by the capital improvement program budget. In a separate financial update to the board, the Director of Finance reported that the district is submitting final drawdowns for its debt service, including a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan for sewer infrastructure. The Director of Finance noted that the first principal payment on the latest Clean Water SRF loan will not be due until January, providing a six-month grace period following the drawdown.
