The city authorized $17,000 for property easements required for the Greenbrier 2 Pump Station Replacement, a remedial measure under its existing consent decree.

Agreements were approved to provide sanitary sewer conveyance and treatment capacity to the Ash Tree developments in neighboring Jessamine County.

The council approved more than $146,000 in stormwater quality incentive grants to local organizations and the Kentucky American Water Co.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is moving forward with multiple operational and compliance-driven water infrastructure projects following a sweeping block of council approvals on September 10, 2026. The Division of Water Quality secured approvals for two sole-source contracts aimed at maintaining operations at the West Hickman Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The council authorized a $444,705 agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. for service and field support, alongside a $54,870 purchase from In-Situ for service and parts for the plant's online process analyzer. Highlighting ongoing regulatory compliance efforts, the council authorized the mayor to execute certificates of consideration and accept deeds of easement for the Greenbrier 2 Pump Station Replacement Project. The property acquisitions, capped at $17,000, are necessary for the remedial measures project required by the city's consent decree. In a move expanding regional utility cooperation, the council approved two site-specific agreements with the Jessamine South Elkhorn Water District and developer Ball Homes LLC. The agreements will provide Lexington-based sanitary sewer conveyance and treatment capacity to the Ash Tree and Ash Tree Unit 3, Phase 1 properties located in neighboring Jessamine County. The city is also investing in localized stormwater management. The council approved several stormwater quality incentive grants, including $41,590 to Friends of the Parks in Fayette County, $26,810 to WaterwaysLex, Inc., and an $18,126 grant to AVOL Ky., Inc. Additionally, a change order increased an existing stormwater grant with Kentucky American Water Co. by $60,000, bringing that total to $360,000. For ongoing environmental monitoring, the city renewed a $127,000 agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey to maintain and operate existing stream flow and precipitation gauges through June 2027. Finally, the council approved a change order with Lagco, Inc. that decreased an existing Division of Water Quality contract by $167,839, bringing the revised total to $1.46 million.
