Petitions were authorized for water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure to support the new Sunshine Village and Veranda Second residential developments.

The city updated trespassing ordinances to protect the 'Big Ditch' floodway from off-road vehicles that could interfere with flood control flows.

A councilmember was authorized to attend the June 23 state signing of House Bill 2462, a water reuse bill.

During its June 16, 2026 meeting, the Wichita City Council advanced several water infrastructure items through its consent and public improvement agendas, focusing heavily on supporting new residential subdivisions. The council approved two utility expansion contracts awarded to Meese Construction Incorporated. The first is a $744,663 contract for stormwater drain number 548 to serve the Oak Street Addition. The second is a $165,551 contract for a sanitary sewer extension serving Phase 2 of the Area 151 Addition. In addition to the contract awards, the council unanimously approved petitions and budgets for public utility improvements in two new residential developments. The Sunshine Village Addition in District 4 will receive new water, stormwater drain, and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Similarly, the Veranda Second Edition in District 2 was approved for water and sanitary sewer improvements. The council also addressed flood control maintenance, approving an ordinance to clarify trespassing prohibitions within the "Big Ditch" floodway property. The measure, coordinated with the Stormwater department, aims to prevent dirt bikes, ATVs, and unauthorized paths from interfering with the flow of the floodways. Finally, the council authorized Councilmember Tuttle to travel to Topeka on June 23 for the ceremonial signing of House Bill 2462, a state water reuse bill.
