Austin Tyler Construction Inc. secured a $2,982,535.68 contract for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Water System Improvements Project.

The council approved a $94,200 amendment to Baxter & Woodman Inc. for construction engineering services on the same project.

Emergency sewer repairs on Jefferson Street totaling $260,545.62 were approved for Airy's Inc.

A Special Use Permit was granted for development within the Cedar Creek Watershed Protection Area.

The City of Joliet is moving forward with significant upgrades to its local water infrastructure following the City Council's approval of key contracts on June 2, 2026. The centerpiece of the approvals is the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Water Systems Improvement Project. During the meeting, the council voted to award the primary construction contract to Austin Tyler Construction Inc. in the amount of $2,982,535.68. The measure passed with near-unanimous support, with Councilman Juan Moreno recording the sole abstention. Supporting the construction phase, the council also approved Amendment No. 1 to a professional services agreement with Baxter & Woodman Inc. The $94,200 amendment will cover construction engineering services for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District project. In addition to the planned water system improvements, the council addressed immediate wastewater infrastructure needs by approving payment for emergency repairs to the Jefferson Street Sewer. The $260,545.62 contract was awarded to Airy's Inc. Other water-related land use and easement items were also cleared during the session. The council unanimously approved a Special Use Permit to allow development on a lot containing the Cedar Creek Watershed Protection Area for the Autobahn Country Club. Additionally, the council approved the vacation of a public utility and drainage easement for the Vista Ridge Phase 1 Planned Unit Development.
