The City of Fort Lauderdale is advancing contractual and operational updates for its municipal water and stormwater infrastructure. During the June 2, 2026, City Commission meeting, officials unanimously approved a series of utility items via the consent agenda, headlined by modifications to the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center project. The commission authorized a fourth amendment to the comprehensive agreement with Prospect Lake Water, L.P. The amendment formally updates the facility's feedstock water specifications and product water contract standards. Notably, the contractual revision removes all references to fluoride from the agreement. To support ongoing treatment operations at the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center, commissioners also approved a $300,000 piggyback award utilizing a Broward County bid contract. The contract secures the purchase of ferric chloride from PVS Technologies, Inc. In addition to the water treatment updates, the commission addressed local flood resilience by passing a resolution to extend a state-funded grant agreement. The resolution delegates authority to the City Manager to execute a first amendment to Grant Agreement L0041 with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The amendment extends the timeline for the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Business Corridor Stormwater Pump Station Generators project, pushing the agreement's end date to October 31, 2028. Because the items were grouped on the consent agenda, they were approved unanimously without further discussion or debate from the commission.
